Applications for the AMA Foundation’s 2024-25 Leadership Development Institute (LDI) are now open. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. CST. Students who are rising into their final year of medical school and will graduate in 2025 are eligible to apply for the program.
The LDI is dedicated to cultivating a diverse cohort of aspiring physician leaders who are committed to serving the needs of their communities and improving our nation’s health. The institute offers medical students a unique opportunity to gain individualized insight into the skills needed to foster their careers as future leaders in medicine.
Activities include two in-person events, a program launch weekend retreat (September 2024) and a culmination celebration in conjunction with the 2025 AMA Annual Meeting (June 5-8), along with monthly webinars with themes that include leadership skills, communication skills and advocacy. Participants benefit from interactions with knowledgeable professionals who are leaders in their fields and offer wisdom on topics that go beyond the classroom and the clinic LDI participants are also paired with a member of the AMA House of Delegates who serves as a mentor throughout the program year and offers support during the transition from medical school to residency.
