Sergeant John Basilone Memorial Graduate Scholarship
The UNICO Foundation will grant two awards valued up to a maximum of $3,000 each, paid out at $1,500 per year, for graduate scholarships. The awardee must be initiating graduate study, full-time, at an accredited campus based college/university program in the United States. A candidate must be a United States citizen of Italian descent.
Applicant must reside in one of the following states which have a UNICO chapter: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia or Wisconsin. Exception: The Maria and Paolo Alessio Southern Italy Scholarship is open to all 50 states.
Applicant must continue studies within academic year 2019-2020.
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
Online degree programs are not eligible for UNICO scholarships.

Awards will be based on the applicant’s demonstrated commitment to pursuing the highest standards of excellence, ethics and compassion in the medical profession, as well as his/her academic promise and financial need. Special consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating an entrepreneurial and innovative approach to medicine.
Applicants will be ranked by each scholarship committee member on the basis of financial need; demonstrated academic promise; recommendation by a teacher, guidance counselor, or other appropriate party; and an essay. Recipients are eligible to re-apply in successive years for a maximum of four annual awards. The same criteria will be used to determine renewal awards.

Delaware Community Foundation’s Scholarship Opportunities:
Foreman Fleisher established this fund in memory of his mother, Ida Fleisher, to help talented women become professionals. The fund provides scholarships for women, preferably Jewish, who wish to pursue a graduate degree.
Eligibility is limited to women who have a hometown or attend school in the Greater Philadelphia area, including New Jersey and Delaware. Grant distributions, which can range from $2,000-$8,000, are administered by a local bank and sent directly to the chosen recipient’s school to be used for tuition only.
Application requirements – three copies of each document:
1)Ida Foreman Fleisher application, 2)Personal Mission Statement, 3)FAFSA,
4)Recent transcripts and 5)Letter of recommendation (one original and 2 copies).
Application becomes available March 1, 2019.
