Waechter Medical-Legal Scholarship

Guidelines:

Application deadline: Applications accepted annually from January 1 through September 1.  Winners selected and contacted by end of September.

Annual scholarships available: $1,000: One $500 scholarship awarded to a student of some kind of legal college, university or program; AND one $500 scholarship awarded to a student of some kind of medical college, university or program.

The Idea: Jason Waechter loves both the medical profession and the legal profession.  He believes the best of each field have something in common—they solve problems in creative and original ways.  These scholarships embrace this.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria:

  • Open to any students of any kind of legal or medical college, university or program;
  • No minimum GPA requirement;
  • The primary criteria is creativity in the application;
  • Background of the applicant may be considered.

Application requirements:

Write 150 original words (or more) about any of the following:

    • How the Medical & Legal Community can work more easily together;
    • How to reduce medical mistakes;
    • For medical students only: What lawyers don’t know about medicine, but should;
    • For law students only: What doctors don’t know about law, but should; OR
    • Any other novel topic mixing law and medicine.

In this writing also include (which does not count toward your 150 words):

  • Name & contact information;
  • Your background of not more than 40 words (include school and how far you are along).

The key: Be as absolutely creative and attention-getting as possible. There are no constraints—list ideas, thoughts, a narrative, an essay, whatever. Have fun and be unique with it.

Eligibility

Any legal U.S. resident in high school or college at least eighteen (18) years old who will be attending an accredited university or college in Fall 2015 is eligible to apply. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.

Scholarship details

As a company filled with many college grads, we know that college is an important life endeavor, but one that can be expensive. NMF – Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Scholarship

The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Scholarship is awarded to four 2nd and 3rd year underrepresented minority students with financial need as recognition of their academic achievement and potential.

General Eligibility:
*US citizen
*Attends an accredited medical school
*Underrepresented minority student
* Has demonstrated leadership ability
*Committed to serving medically under-served communities

Montgomery County, PA Medical Society (MCMS) Scholarship

Through the Foundation, Montgomery County Medical Society (MCMS) will award multiple $2,500 scholarships to qualified medical students.

Applicant must be a resident of Montgomery County in the state of Pennsylvania
– Applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student
– Applicant must be enrolled full time in an accredited United States medical school
– Applicant must be enrolled or entering his/her first year of medical school

Deadline: September 30 each year

Eligibility guidelines for $1,000 scholarship:

  • Applicant must be a resident of Berks, Lehigh, or Northampton County.
  • Applicant must be a resident of Pennsylvania for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student.
  • Applicant must be entering the first year of medical school.
  • Applicant must be enrolled full time in a fully accredited United States medical school.

Lehigh County, PA: Medical Auxiliary’s Scholarship and Education (LeCoMASE) Fund Scholarship

Eligibility guidelines for $2,500 scholarship:

  • Applicant must be a United States citizen.
  • Applicant must be a resident of Lehigh county in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident from Lehigh county for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student (not including time spent attending an under graduate or graduate school).
  • Applicant must be enrolled full time in a fully accredited United States medical school.
