Veterans United Foundation Scholarship

In spring 2018, Veterans United Foundation will award up to three (3) scholarships to eligible recipients. Each award is for up to $20,000 and is nonrenewable.

Spring Application Timeline APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE STARTING: TBD

  • Application period starts on: TBD
  • Due to a high volume in applications, Veterans United Foundation will accept a limited number of application submissions this semester. Once that number has been met, the application link will be closed and no more applications will be accepted.
  • (If the application count does not reach the maximum number of submissions allowed by Veterans United Foundation, the application link will close on Friday, April 1, 2018, at 5 p.m. CST.)

Fall Application Timeline:

  • Fall 2017 Application Period: APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE STARTING ON September 25, 2017 at 8:00 am CST
  • Fall 2017 Application Period: Ends October 27, 2017 at 5:00 pm CST (Veterans United Foundation will accept a limited number of application submissions. The application period can end sooner if the number has been met.)
  • Winners notified directly via email or phone: By December 1, 2017.

To be eligible for this scholarship award, applicants must be:

  • A surviving spouse or child of a deceased Veteran of the U.S. Military
  • Currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a college or university by the fall semester of 2018
  • Pursuing an associate’s, bachelor’s, graduate, post-graduate or doctoral degree
  • Comfortable with sharing personal stories and aspirations with Veterans United Foundation
  • Willing and able to provide the following within 1-2 days of requests made by staff of Veterans United Foundation:
  1. Deceased parent or spouse’s military documents (DD214 and death certificate / or DD1300)
  2. Full FAFSA submission
  • Willing and able to provide Veterans United Foundation with receipts or invoices related to eligible educational costs as they are incurred in order to receive payment. Eligible costs include tuition, books, fees, school materials and some aspects of room and board as determined by Veterans United Foundation. Payments may be made directly to the school or reimbursed to the award recipient.

 Awards will be given based on the following criteria:

  • A 2-3 page typed essay telling your story, how losing your spouse or parent has affected you, explaining who you are, where your life has taken you and what you hope to pursue through your college education and beyond
  • Financial need, as determined by the Veterans United Foundation awards team and based on full FAFSA submission
  • Community, church, sports, or school involvement or achievements
  • Any additional information you would like to have considered (may include photos, drawings, poems, additional writings, etc.)

Eligibility

Any legal U.S. resident in high school or college at least eighteen (18) years old who will be attending an accredited university or college in Fall 2015 is eligible to apply. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.

Scholarship details

NMF – Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Scholarship

The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Scholarship is awarded to four 2nd and 3rd year underrepresented minority students with financial need as recognition of their academic achievement and potential.

General Eligibility:
*US citizen
*Attends an accredited medical school
*Underrepresented minority student
* Has demonstrated leadership ability
*Committed to serving medically under-served communities

Montgomery County, PA Medical Society (MCMS) Scholarship

Through the Foundation, Montgomery County Medical Society (MCMS) will award multiple $2,500 scholarships to qualified medical students.

Applicant must be a resident of Montgomery County in the state of Pennsylvania
– Applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student
– Applicant must be enrolled full time in an accredited United States medical school
– Applicant must be enrolled or entering his/her first year of medical school

Eligibility guidelines for $1,000 scholarship:

  • Applicant must be a resident of Berks, Lehigh, or Northampton County.
  • Applicant must be a resident of Pennsylvania for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student.
  • Applicant must be entering the first year of medical school.
  • Applicant must be enrolled full time in a fully accredited United States medical school.

Lehigh County, PA: Medical Auxiliary’s Scholarship and Education (LeCoMASE) Fund Scholarship

Eligibility guidelines for $2,500 scholarship:

  • Applicant must be a United States citizen.
  • Applicant must be a resident of Lehigh county in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident from Lehigh county for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student (not including time spent attending an under graduate or graduate school).
  • Applicant must be enrolled full time in a fully accredited United States medical school.
