We at LasikPlus believe in building our community through education and is proud to offer a $2,500 scholarship to students who are EXCITED to better themselves by investing in their minds.

  • To participate, submit a PDF of your essay to scholarship@lasikplus.com. Scholarships are awarded EACH CALENDAR QUARTER! 
  • The essay should be 500-700 words in length and include the entrant’s contact information including full name, the University or College of
    enrollment, current major, email address, and phone number where the entrant can be contacted.
  • The essay must show the entrant’s desire and ability to bring their vision to life through continuing education and community involvement.
  • The essay must be the personal, individual work of the entrant. Submit Essay in PDF Format

Veterans United Foundation Scholarship

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

The Veterans United Foundation Scholarship creates opportunities for family members of service members and Veterans to achieve their educational dreams. The scholarship program, launched in 2012, is funded by contributions from Veterans United Home Loans and its employees.

The Veterans United Foundation Scholarship will be awarding up to 10 one-time scholarships for up to $50,000 for this upcoming semester.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for this scholarship award, applicants must be:

– To be a surviving spouse or a surviving child of a deceased service member, from a service-related death OR a veteran with a 100% service-connected disability.

– Currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a college or university by the spring semester of 2020

– Pursuing an associate’s, bachelor’s, graduate, post-graduate or doctoral degree

– Comfortable with sharing personal stories and aspirations with Veterans United Foundation

– Able to provide the following within three business days of application submission:

*Deceased parent or spouse’s military documents (DD214 and death certificate /or DD1300)

*Official benefit letter showing disability rating (if applicable)

*Full FAFSA submission

*Proof of enrollment from your accredited college or university

*Government-issued photo ID

– Able to provide Veterans United Foundation with receipts or invoices related to eligible educational costs as they are incurred in order to receive payment. Eligible costs include tuition, books, fees, school materials and some aspects of room and board as determined by Veterans United Foundation.

CRITERIA

Awards will be granted based on the following criteria:

– A typed essay

Share your story of how losing your spouse or parent has affected you. Explain who you are, where your life has taken you, and what you hope to pursue through your college education and beyond.

– Financial need

Determined by the Veterans United Foundation awards team and based on full FAFSA submission

– Additional information

Your community, church, athletic and school involvement or achievements, plus anything else you would like to have considered (may include photos, drawings, poems, writings, etc.).

TIMELINE

·        Fall 2019 Application Period: Starts August 28, 2019, at 8:00 am CST

Fall 2019 Application Period: Ends September 30th, 2019, at 8:00 am CST (Veterans United Foundation will accept a limited number of application submissions. The application period can end sooner if the number has been met.)

·       Winners notified directly via email or phone on or before November 4, 2019.

Montgomery County, PA Medical Society (MCMS) Scholarship

Through the Foundation, Montgomery County Medical Society (MCMS) will award multiple $2,500 scholarships to qualified medical students.

Applicant must be a resident of Montgomery County in the state of Pennsylvania
– Applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student
– Applicant must be enrolled full time in an accredited United States medical school
– Applicant must be enrolled or entering his/her first year of medical school

Eligibility guidelines for $1,000 scholarship:

  • Applicant must be a resident of Berks, Lehigh, or Northampton County.
  • Applicant must be a resident of Pennsylvania for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student.
  • Applicant must be entering the first year of medical school.
  • Applicant must be enrolled full time in a fully accredited United States medical school.

Lehigh County, PA: Medical Auxiliary’s Scholarship and Education (LeCoMASE) Fund Scholarship

Eligibility guidelines for $2,500 scholarship:

  • Applicant must be a United States citizen.
  • Applicant must be a resident of Lehigh county in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident from Lehigh county for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student (not including time spent attending an under graduate or graduate school).
  • Applicant must be enrolled full time in a fully accredited United States medical school.

The Islamic Society of North America

Islamic Development Bank Loan Scholarship
This program is unique as the IDB scholarship is a grant from the IDB to the Muslim community and is offered as an interest-free loan to the students, to be refunded in easy installments, for the future use of other needy students in the community.

  • Five scholarships of $15,000 each year for four years will be awarded. 
  • This scholarship is for students entering their first year of professional (graduate level) study.

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society

The Lehigh County Medical Auxiliary’s Scholarship and Education Fund offers two $1,000 scholarships for full-time medical students from that county in their second, third, or fourth year of medical school.

The Lycoming County Medical Society offers up to three $3,000 scholarships for full-time medical students from that county.

The Montgomery County Medical Society offers two $2,000 scholarship to first year medical students from that county. Additionally, applicants must be a resident of Montgomery County in the state of Pennsylvania at the time of high school graduation or for at least four years prior to medical school.

The Myrtle Siegfried and Michael Vigilante MD Scholarship Fund offers a  $1,000 scholarship to a first year medical student from Berks, Lehigh or Northampton county.

The Blair County Medical Society Scholarship $1,000 scholarship for residents of Blair County in their second, third, or fourth year of medical school.

National Hispanic Health Foundation

Deadline: The application deadline is September 26, 2019, at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Any applications received after the deadline will NOT be considered. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.

The NHHF Health Professions Scholarships will award 15-20 scholarships to graduate students in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health or Health Policy, and Physician Assistant who exhibit exceptional academic performance, documented leadership activities, and have a commitment to a career providing healthcare services to the Hispanic community in the US.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS: INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED

What are the qualifications?

  • 3.0 GPA or Passing (fail/pass system)
  • Exceptional academic performance, documented leadership activities, and have a commitment to a career providing healthcare services to the Hispanic community in the US
  • Be a full-time student in the following accredited programs: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health or Health Policy, and Physician Assistant

The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund

The purpose of this grant is to support women in education who are committed to improving the lives of women and children in their home countries.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be at least 25 years old at time of application deadline (see specific regional program application below);
  • Be a national of a country listed on the MMEG Country Eligibility List;
  • Be enrolled at an accredited academic institution when submitting application; and plan to be enrolled for a full academic term after award of the grant by the Board;
  • Not be related to a World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund or Inter-American Development Bank staff member or spouse;
