The John A. Herring Scholarship for Social Awareness

Two $5,000 scholarships are awarded annually to two current students, either undergraduate or graduate, of any year who demonstrate leadership, citizenship, and fellowship and have actively supported, through volunteerism and advocacy, the LGBTQ Center at the University of Virginia.

Rather than self-nomination, the recipient will be selected through nominations submitted from peers, students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

The student will be known for their exemplary acts of kindness toward people of diverse backgrounds and their participation in the education of others.

Peter L. Page Grant

The Peter Page Grant provides awards to highly-motivated gay male students with financial need. Current undergraduate or graduate students who attend the University of Virginia on a full-time basis can apply for a one-year grant.

Decisions will be based on academic achievements, financial need, essays, extracurricular activities, and awards demonstrating exceptional commitment to bettering LGBT community at UVa and beyond.

Recipients can apply for the grant again the following year.

Reider-Otis Scholarship for UVa Students

Reider-Otis Scholarship for UVa Students

The Jeffrey L. Reider and Charles F. Otis Endowed Scholarship annually provides a one-time scholarship award of $5,000 to a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) or straight student who has demonstrated a willingness to advance the rights and acceptances of the LGBTQ community.

The scholarship is available for undergraduate (excluding first years) or graduate students who attend the University of Virginia on a full time basis. The scholarship will also consider activity in the musical arts (but is not limited to the musical arts).
