The UNICO Foundation will provide a scholarship, valued at $2,500 to a student currently attending, full-time, an accredited campus based college/university program in the United States pursuing a degree. An applicant must be a United States citizen of Southern Italian descent, specifically including the regions of: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Campania, Calabria, Latium, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicilia. *Open to all 50 states.

  • Applicant must reside in one of the following states which have a UNICO chapter: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia or Wisconsin. Exception: The Maria and Paolo Alessio Southern Italy Scholarship is open to all 50 states.

  • Applicant must continue studies within academic year 2019-2020.

The UNICO Foundation will grant two awards valued up to a maximum of $3,000 each, paid out at $1,500 per year, for graduate scholarships. The awardee must be initiating graduate study, full-time, at an accredited campus based college/university program in the United States. The UNICO Foundation will grant a $5,000 scholarship, paid on award, to a student pursuing a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy degree at an accredited medical school in the United States. A candidate must be a United States citizen of Italian descent.

Morgagni Medical Scholarship

Morgagni Medical Scholarship

The Morgagni Medical Society made its third annual generous donation to the Columbus Citizens Foundation from which one (1) medical school student scholarship will be awarded.  The amount awarded will be $10,000 over 4 years ($2,500 per year).

Eligibility: The Morgagni Medical Scholarship is only for incoming first year medical students starting in the fall of 2019. Students need to have an overall college GPA of at least 3.5, and be of Italian descent (at least 50% Italian).

Process: Students interested in receiving the Morgagni Medical Scholarship must submit an application online and the required supporting documents to the Columbus Citizens Foundation. A committee reviews and evaluates the applications and asks selected applicants to visit the Columbus Citizens Foundation for a mandatory interview.

Approximately one month after interviews, the committee decides which applicant will be awarded the scholarship. Applicants are notified by email of the committee’s decision.

National Italian American Foundation

NIAF Scholarships range from $2,500 to $12,000 for Italian Americans who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievement in their area of study.

Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the US with at least one ancestor who immigrated from Italy and be enrolled in an accredited US college/university with a 3.5 GPA.

Application requirements include the completed application, a teacher evaluation form, an official grade transcript and, if you wish, the FAFSA.

Online applications become available in November.
